Peace Keepers Memorial Project

Officially dedicated on October 02, 2005

(The following information is from a
Saskatchewan War Memorial Project pamphlet)

This memorial will include the names of those from the province who died while serving their country with the armed forces, the merchant marine and auxiliary services. It will also include a place for the names of those from Saskatchewan who pay the supreme sacrifice while serving in peacekeeping operations.
Saskatchewan people have answered the call of their country many times in the past and it is important that those who did not or will not return in the future,
are never forgotten.

(They Gave Everything! Will You Give A Little?)

Honorary Patrons
The Hon. Sylvia O. Fedoruk
Lieutenant-Governor of Saskatchewan
1988-94

The Hon. Jack E. N. Wiebe
Lieutenant-Governor of Saskatchewan
1994-2000

The World War II, Korean War and Peacekeepers Memorial will be built just south of the current World War I memorial on the Legislative Grounds West of the Legislative Building.

The people of Saskatchewan are proud of their heritage and the part they have played in the development of Saskatchewan and Canada. Their involvement in the progress of Canada as a nation cannot be denied. Many of our youth have given their all in the two world wars and the Korean conflict.
Those who died in World War I have been remembered in the recent construction of a WW I memorial. It is now time to remember those who did not return from WW II, the Korean conflict and any who are lost in subsequent Peace Keeping duties.
The Saskatchewan War Memorial Project Committee has set the year 2005 as the objective for the completion and dedication of such a memorial. It will be located on the Legislative Grounds immediately south of the WW I memorial. The approved design is compatible with the WW I memorial and will include the names of over 3800 Saskatchewan men and women who gave their lives in the cause of freedom.
Most members of this project committee are veterans of these campaigns and when we are gone it will be memorials such as these that will remind future generations of the cost that was paid for the freedoms they enjoy.

Support this project by making a donation. The Memorial will cost $450,000.00 and will include 3800 Saskatchewan names. Perhaps you know of someone you would like to sponsor -a relative, friend or someone who lived in your community. Certificates will be issued for each name sponsored.

Tax receipts will be issued. The registration number is 89405 8668 RR 0001
