Wascana Centre Gift Shop opened on April 1, 1982 as a venue for Saskatchewan artists to market
their products. Closed Down, April 01, 2006.
The gift shop promoted the advancement of the
cultural arts in the community thus fulfilling one of the 5 purposes of Wascana Centre Authority, while providing public
access to the highest quality of Saskatchewan made handcrafts.
SUBMISSION OF WORK
The Wascana Centre Gift Shop accepted work from artists living in Saskatchewan. Artists wanting to sell their work
through the gift shop, had to submit 6 pieces of artwork or slides/photographs of their product. The submitted pieces were
assessed by a selection committee and the artist was notified of the final decision within one week of submitting the work.
All goods were to be handcrafted from the design stage through to finished product.
The Wascana Centre Gift Shop accepted all work on a consignment basis with a consignment fee of 35% retained for sales.
Artists were paid for sold merchandise 5 working days following the end of the month.
Artwork was displayed for a period of 90 days after which time the items were either returned to the artist or exchanged for new
stock. If an artist failed to reclaim their work within three months from the date of notice, the items were to be sold at a reduced rate.
Artists were responsible for the cost of shipping merchandise to and from the gift shop.
