DONATIONS TO WASCANA CENTRE

Wascana Centre was established in 1962 by an act of the Saskatchewan Legislature. The Wascana Centre Act unites the Province of Saskatchewan, the City of Regina and the University of Regina in a corporate body called the Wascana Centre Authority.

The Authority is an eleven-member body representing these three participating parties. Five members of the Authority are appointed by the Government of Saskatchewan, three by the City of Regina and three by the University of Regina. Wascana Centre Authority was created to accomplish the following purposes:
* development of the seat of government
 * enlargement of educational opportunities
 * advancement of the cultural arts
  * improvement of recreational facilities
 * conservation of the environment.

The Authority is responsible for reviewing and approving all construction activities, except those interior to buildings, as well as maintaining and developing all landscape elements in the 930 hectares (2300 acres) which comprise Wascana Centre.

Funding for Wascana Centre is provided by the three participating parties and is shared approximately 55% by the Government of Saskatchewan, 30% by the City of Regina and 15% by the University of Regina.

Wascana Centre enjoys a generous level of public funding, however, it is not sufficient to allow many necessary capital projects to proceed.
Wascana Centre also needs private contributions.

DONATIONS TO WASCANA CENTRE

Wascana Centre is registered with Revenue Canada as a charity for income tax purposes. When you contribute to Wascana, 100% of your tax deductible contribution will be used for capital projects such as improved playground facilities, bike paths, tree planting and roadway reconstruction. Your donation to Wascana Centre will help ensure that generations to come will be able to enjoy the beauty of the Centre. You may contribute to the Centre in any one of the following ways:

Gifts of Cash
You can make a cash gift to Wascana Centre Authority and receive a tax deductible receipt for the amount of your donation.

Gifts in Kind
You can make a gift of real property, securities or other items of value to Wascana Centre Authority and receive a tax deductible receipt for its fair market value. You may also donate a tree to Wascana Centre under this policy. The Centre will accept only well-formed healthy specimens which are not available in the Centre's nursery and may limit the number accepted in any one year.

Bequests
You can make a bequest of cash or a gift in kind in your will and receive a tax deductible receipt for the fair market value to be used in your final tax return.

Life Insurance
You can take out a life insurance policy and designate Wascana Centre Authority as the owner and beneficiary. Your premium contributions will be paid directly to Wascana Centre Authority and a tax deductible receipt will be issued annually. The policy can be arranged by contacting the office manager at Wascana Centre Authority. A donation of life insurance is easier to make because it is made in small, regular amounts. In addition, your estate is not reduced because life insurance in effect creates an additional separate estate.

Recognition Procedures
All donations of $100 or more will be recognized by a letter of appreciation from the Chairman of the Wascana Centre Authority. Donations of more than $1,000 will receive additional recognition such as a framed certificate, inclusion of your name on a donor's board or a special ceremony in recognition of very large donations.
