Monuments and Memorials:
Diefenbaker Homestead Cairn

Located west of Old Broad Street.(1967-2004)
On November 28, 2004 the homstead was moved to
The Sukanen Ship and Pioneer Village Museum.

THE
DIEFENBAKER HOMESTEAD

     THESE BUILDINGS WERE THE
BOYHOOD HOME OF THE R.T. HON.
JOHN G. DIEFENBAKER, P.C, Q.C.,
M.A., LL.B., LL.D., D.C.L., M.P.,
PRIME MINISTER OF CANADA
1957-1963. IN 1906, AT THE AGE
OF ELEVEN, HE HELPED HIS FATHER
BUILD THE LARGER HOUSE IN WHICH
THE FAMILY, MR. AND MRS. W.M.
DIEFENBAKER, JOHN AND ELMER
LIVED NEAR BORDEN FOR FOUR
YEARS. JOHN SLEPT IN THE SMALLER
HOUSE WHICH WAS OWNED BY HIS
UNCLE, MR. ED DIEFENBAKER,
AND LOCATED ON AN ADJOINING
QUARTER SECTION.


PRESENTED BY MR. ELMER C. DIEFENBAKER,
THESE BUILDINGS WERE RESTORED BY THE
GOVERNMENT OF SASKATCHEWAN
HISTORY FOLKLORE SOCIETY.
